David Rojas (Spain, 1994) is a Spanish artist based in Mobile, Alabama. He develops his pictorial practice through a critical reflection on the visual saturation that defines the contemporary era. Rooted in graffiti, his work expands into painting, collage, and silkscreen printing, intertwining plastic and graphic experimentation to construct compositions that move beyond the mere accumulation of images. Inspired by the concept of photo-trouvé, Rojas fragments and recomposes visual material, creating autonomous scenes that question how we perceive and inhabit reality.
Through layered imagery and references drawn from contemporary visual culture, his work gives rise to ambiguous landscapes that challenge the viewer from the fragmentary. His ongoing series ‘’POORTREAT’’ forms the conceptual core of his research, offering a critical perspective on liquid modernity and the fleeting ways in which we visually experience the present. Rojas’ practice invites reflection on the relationship between body, image, and context, blurring the boundaries between the intimate and the collective, the beautiful and the banal.
He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts from the University of Málaga (2016–2022), as well as academic training in Printmaking and Graphic Advertising. His work has been exhibited in Spain at Arts Libris and the Art Byblio Award Exhibition (Barcelona), Galería El Punto Rojo (Murcia), and JARANA Contemporary Art Conference (Jaén). He received First Prize at Marbella Crea Young Plastic Arts (2017) and an Accessit award for the Image of the Sanitary City Project of Jaén (2022).
